How to deal with a relative who sends a lot of long Islamic texts? I say Jazakallahukhayran every now and then, but my father who is less religious feels irritated (possibly religiously inferior) by this person. I know my beard makes him feel this sometimes. ANSWER: There’s no need to feel inferior. You must work hard to reach higher level of iman. Rejecting truth and feeling this way about Islamic knowledge is a very negative sign of hypocrisy.

If a person does not make up their missed fasts by next Ramadan, are they obligated to pay Fidya in addition to making up the fast? If so, does the Fidya add up for each year that they delay making up the fast?

ANSWER: No, there’s no fidya for this. They must make up those fasts quickly besides sincerely repenting to Allah for delaying them.

ANSWER: No problem for this reason.

Suppose I have to give Zakat 913.75 dollars. But to be safe and assure, I decided to donate 1000 dollars and intend that the money I am supposed to give zakat is given as zakat and the extra money is given as normal charity. Is this permissible? Or I have to give the fix amount that I counted and give intending only as zakat?

I go to my university through bus. I go to the bus station without any mahram. Is it sinful? And as in the university bus I alone go without mahram. Is it sinful too?? What if I don’t have any mahram to take me there, in this case would it be sinful too??

ANSWER: If the university is within your city limits then no problem in this as long as it’s safe to commute. The prohibition is for a woman to travel out of the city borders without her male mahram. It is prohibited to be in the bus alone with the driver without any passengers.

ANSWER: This is not permissible. It’s only permissible for young kids to play with. It is permissible to give children toys that have the shape of humans or animals. It is not permissible to have these drawings on the clothes of children.
