QUESTION: Sheikh, how would you advise a daughter to sincerely counsel her father who is involved in Tabligh? He actively goes out for da’wah, and apart from khuruj and the kitab they commonly read, there isn’t other practices concerning. What would you advise her to say?

ANSWER: Try to relate him more and more to the seerah of the prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam and his sunnah. Once he is truely attached to it, he would know that what he is doing is wrong.

QUESTION: Not interested in thableegi. Lot times jamath visit us, I try my best to respectfully tell them, “I have works, please leave me”, they insist on telling “some innovative stories/ you can’t go to jannah only you praying,…”. I say sorry, and leave, then they will leave from home saying “Allahu Akbar, Hasbunallah,.”. Now I’m facing lot of problems, may be punishment of it??

ANSWER: No, these are whispers of Satan. Ignore it and keep on making duaa and Allah will relieve you of your problems. Such people are people of innovation and you did well by not accompanying them. However, you should respectfully tell them that and not kick them out as if they are criminals!

QUESTION: Some people light a(oil lamp)in their homes on certain days or for pious people, believing it brings blessings They also claim that Allah mentions lamps in the Qur’an and that the Prophet used lamps, Is lighting a lamp with the belief of gaining blessings or as a religious act something proven from the Qur’an or authentic Sunnah? Did the Prophet or the Sahabah ever do this as an act of worship?

QUESTION: My wife’s family practices non-Sunnah rituals like Khatam on the 3rd, 7th, 40th day and yearly for the deceased, and seek help from Hazrats against evil. I avoid these as they aren’t from Quran or Sunnah. They call me Wahabi or extreme. I stay respectful, attend normal visits, and my wife supports me. Am I wrong for avoid their invitations?
