ANSWER: This is totally unacceptable as praying it before the athan time is not valid and delaying the athan so that you can offer them home is betrayal of trust! Perform the athan and then offer it in the masjid like all Muathins around the world do!

QUESTION: Some Muslim brothers work in construction or other manual labor jobs. When it is time for prayer, they go directly to the mosque wearing their work clothes, which may be very dusty, dirty, or have a strong odor from work. Since we stand shoulder to shoulder during congregational prayer, some people nearby may become distracted or uncomfortable. What is the Islamic ruling in this situation? Should these brothers still come to the mosque if they have no opportunity to change or clean up first, or would it be better for them to pray elsewhere to avoid disturbing others? Also, what is the responsibility of the other worshippers toward them?

ANSWER: They must not make the masjid dirty or harm others with their odor The prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam prohibited a person who had consumed onions or garlic to enter the masjid so that he wouldn’t annoy other worshipers.

QUESTION: Do women get reward for walking to the masjid as in does each footstep wipe away sins I hear a hadith that states this but do not know if it applies to women?

ANSWER: This reward applies to women as well. However, they are rewarded more than that if they were to pray home!

QUESTION: When you first enter our UK Masjid, there is an area for taking off shoes. If the Masjid becomes full we put mats and use it to pray. Is it halal to hang up flyers on one section of the wall to advertise for Muslim businesses (or to leave the flyers on a table for the people to take home)? What about a Muslim shop which sells halal meat, so that the Muslims know where to buy halal meat?

QUESTION: I am aware that Jews are permitted to pray in our mosques. If there are no mosques nearby, are Muslims allowed to pray in a synagogue?

ANSWER: Yes, we can pray anywhere on earth as long as the place is physically pure and there are no statues in it.

QUESTION: I live 5 minutes from an established Masjid, but a new one is opening just 2 minutes away. This new Masjid is being built specifically due to personal disputes and community division. Given the Sunnah of attending the nearest Masjid, am I obligated to switch to the closer one, or should I continue attending the original Masjid to avoid supporting a division based on discord?

ANSWER: Its not an obligation to pray in the nearest masjid, you can pray anywhere you like (imam’s recitation, convenience etc)

QUESTION: If a person has a local Masjid near his home but chooses to pray Jumu‘ah in another Masjid because he feels the khutbah or the scholar there benefits him more, and he does this regularly every week, is it permissible and considered good in Shari‘ah to leave one’s own local Masjid and attend Jumu‘ah elsewhere?
