ANSWER: Keeping dog is prohibited in Islam unless it is for guarding, farming or hunting. Selling accessories for such dogs is permissible but not for pets but for the above mentioned.

ANSWER: I don’t think you need any motivation as your natural inclination and fitrah is telling you that free mixing is wrong and the rizq is in Allah’s hands.

QUESTION: Sheikh, if someone works in a pharmacy and has to deal with customers, is he permitted to look at non-mahram female customers when they enter the shop to purchase medicine? Would this be comparable to working in a shop where customers purchase items such as pens, as the worker may need to recognise them if they later return to request a refund?

ANSWER: Nowadays, this is not needed as people have receipts to prove that they had bought that merchandise from you.

QUESTION: I work a new (mostly home) office job in Germany.In the job interview with my manager, someone else asked if I prefer being told exactly what to do or ‘done by Friday’.I said done by friday I need freedom.For now my tasks have no deadline or a 1–2 week one (may get shorter).When does a missed deadline make my income haram? If I missed one: give the money away or is an apology to my manager enough?

ANSWER: You must do your level best and that is sufficient in making your salary halal. Once you waste time unjustly and do work after the deadline due to your laziness and lack of interest, this is when your salary becomes haram or part of it.

QUESTION: My female friend privately teaches a 12-year-old boy at home, in his bedroom with the door open, while his grandmother is elsewhere in the house. Would this be permissible, or would it be better to teach in the living room with the grandmother present, even if she occasionally steps away?
