She is from a noble educated family,but my mother rejects her saying her deen doesnt validate enough since she was in a relation with me,furthermore they say its early for you to marry wait 6 years then marry whensettled, am i sinful forstandingagainst,what should i do

ANSWER: If you are financially independent and can give your wife a separate accommodation and bare all the household finances then you don’t need anyone’s permission except the consent of the girl’s wali (father)

ANSWER: She is not obliged to obey him in this as she is not a servant to them! However, if they visit his house, as any guest, she is obliged to honor them and serve them but not if they are staying there for ever as in the case of a joint family system.

QUESTION: My father is a Sufi who does spiritual healing (_dam_) and gives amulets (_ta’weez_) using words that ask for help from spiritual elders. He also does numerology for homes, businesses, and past/future events. I believe these practices are incorrect. He doesn’t charge, but disciples voluntarily give him money. Is it _halal_ to eat food bought with that money?

ANSWER: Your father is committing shirk and he is not Muslim. However, whatever food he gets, this is halal for you to eat from and the sins are on him.

QUESTION: I am a 24-year-old Muslim man. Alhamdulillah, I have a job. QUESTION: My father is in a great debt for a long time But he doesn’t bother too much to repay it back. It’s been almost 10-15 years. Now my question is as children of him are we responsible for his debt? Should we save money to repay this huge debt on his behalf? if we didn’t will we held accountable on the day of judgement? Are we responsible for this debt after his death?

ANSWER: No, this is not your responsibility. After he dies, if he hadn’t repaid his debts, the first thing to be deducted from his wealth and property would be this debt & after paying off his debts then only his inheritance should be divided among his heirs

QUESTION: I heard a Mufti saying that the father’s Haram income isn’t Halal for his adult (bhalig) son because he isn’t responsible for feeding his adult son .So if the adult son who is about 16-17 years old is currently studying,what should he do?

ANSWER: What this mufti has said is not true! Haram income is only haram for the person earning it & not for anyone else, unless if its stolen money.

QUESTION: Where should we draw the line on what we compromise / be tolerant on when it comes to non muslim family and Islam, so that we don’t ruin ties?

ANSWER: We maintain family ties, kindness, good character, and patience with non-Muslim relatives. We do not compromise on matters of belief, worship, haram actions, or anything that involves disobeying Allah. Be as accommodating as possible in worldly matters, but do not obey anyone in sin. Preserve the relationship while politely declining what Islam forbids.

QUESTION: Sheikh my sister abused me and continues to do so everytime we’re in contact. I become a different person around her. But because of my duty and insistence from my parents, I kept a distance but maintained contact. However she is incapable of having a relationship with boundaries; it’s all or nothing. Do I have the right to cut her off in this instance?

ANSWER: It is not permissible to sever ties as this is a major sin in Islam. No problem in limiting contact and keeping healthy boundaries while checking up on her often.

QUESTION: My parents were mostly busy with work, so I raised my younger sister like my own child since childhood. Later, she got influenced by friends and started hating me for stopping her from haram relationships and mistakes. Now she avoids me completely, and I feel heartbroken and unable to move on.
