QUESTION: My parents were mostly busy with work, so I raised my younger sister like my own child since childhood. Later, she got influenced by friends and started hating me for stopping her from haram relationships and mistakes. Now she avoids me completely, and I feel heartbroken and unable to move on. How do I deal with this pain and attachment?

QUESTION: Son lives with wife & kids in separate portion of father’s house. Father deceased, mother runs household. Son gave no expenses for 5 years; mother pays for bills, rice, flour, etc. Wife is a narcissist No regard for mother. ANSWER: She can simply kick them out as she is the head of the household. She is not obliged to pay for them whatsoever.

QUESTION: In Shariah women take permission from mahrams, but my father and brothers neglect responsibilities. My father even said he is dead when I asked for fees, and my brothers refuse duties. My sisters reached marriage age, yet they neglect that too. My mother supports my brothers and doesn’t teach them their responsibilities. I’m fed up. Why should we still seek permission?

ANSWER: This is the law of Allah that cannot be changed because of some imbecile individuals! They are sinful for neglecting their duties, like a father not showing interest in his daughters’ wedding etc. However, two wrongs don’t make a right! You must obey your father and be dutiful to him.

QUESTION: I am confused regarding the hadith of Abu Hurairah in the hadith book Adab al-Mufrad, where he tells a man to avoid three actions in front of his father. So regarding not sitting before him, is a Muslim obliged to stand up when his father comes in to the room and he is sitting down or if they are both sitting and the father gets up for a reason like going to the bathroom?

QUESTION: I am a 19 yr old man, live with my parents and siblings. I would like to pray fajr in the masjid, and although I havent asked, I am 99% certain my father would not allow it. Do I still get the ajr for sitting on my prayer mat and remembering Allah until after sunrise, and praying two raka’aat?

ANSWER: No! It applies only when you’re in the masjid! And you’re an adult now and you don’t need your father’s permission to go out! You must pray in the masjid as this is mandatory for you if the masjid is within the vicinity of your home.
