QUESTION: What did the Prophet ﷺ use to recite before making dua? I heard tht one shuld begin wth sana,then send salutations upon Prophet ﷺ, & then present his/her own supplications. I would like to know what th Prophet ﷺ himself used to say as sana before starting his dua.

ANSWER: Yes, he used to offer salutation upon himself as well.

QUESTION: Sheikh, on Islamqa, I was looking at the conditions of accepting dua and one of them was “Ensuring that one’s food comes from permissible sources.” But isn’t the condition everything has to come from halal income, such as getting a haircut or buying a pen,or is it just limited to food?

ANSWER: It’s not limited to food. Food is just emphasized in hadith. The real condition is that your overall income and spending are halal, which affects the acceptance of dua.

QUESTION: Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said in three situations, if you pray dua it is definitely accepted, when your body starts shaking, when you got fear in your heart, when you got tears in your eyes.” Is this hadith saheeh?(some say this is hadith but i don’t know which one so is this saheeh?)

QUESTION: I heard that it aint recommended to ask someone for duaa cuz its like u having no trust in allah or something like that. What about asking parents or traveler etc since theyre dua aint rejected?

ANSWER: No problem in asking a righteous person to make Dua for you. Likewise, no problem in asking a traveler or your parents.

QUESTION: As it is recommended to make dua in prostration, would it be an exaggeration to make dua in every single prostration? Or should we make dua once a couple prostrations?

QUESTION: I know that I can make dua when the time of prayer enters till my own iqamah nd it is not related 2 whether adhan is given in masjid or not but when I’m on period nd I can’t pray when the time lasts for this?

ANSWER: Yes, you can and it is as effective as the fard prayers.

QUESTION: In the ḥadīth, the Prophet ﷺ said du‘ā’ is answered unless one is impatient and says: “I made du‘ā’ but was not answered.” I once said by mistake: “O Allah, when will You give me?” Is this the same as what is mentioned in the ḥadīth, making my du‘ā’ unacceptable?

ANSWER: This is not the same as asking Allah for results and a quick response is not a problem unless one feels despair and abandons making duaa.
