Should I listen to my parents if they say don’t take the food or drink to the bedroom?

ANSWER: You must obey them.

My family thinks that as I have a dark complexion (synonymous to being ugly), I’m not likely to get married that easily so the only wise option left for me is to get a job. Only then i would be able to get any decent proposal based on my job status. But I really don’t want to opt for job and would rather stay at home pursuing my desire to study deen. This type of criticism is making me bitter.

I love my parents very much. The problem is that my mother does not like my wife. We have been married for almost 20 years. Unfortunately my mother is abusive towards my wife but . Still we go and have dinner with them every week. I visit myself at least twice a week and call twice a day. I also financially suport my parents. My mother still thinks I am not a dutiful son.

My husband is a very good practicing Muslim and he is very good to me. In the past few months, he has had a great fall and committed zina with several women. When I found out, he got very angry with me at first. Later he told me to pray for him and be patient and believe that he is doing good. My father has a life insurance.No point in explaining him as he never listens even the first word and gets angry. Now, he orders me to deliver a cheque in the bank, for the premium of life insurance. Am I as a son allowed to obey him ? He will then ask my mother. Is she allowed to obey him ? Should parents be obeyed in other haram acts that directly dont belong to me just like the above example

ANSWER: No, you must not obey him in this regard as obeying Allah takes precedence over everything, however you must be respectful, never raise your voice, humble and diplomatic when dealing with your parents in these kind of situations.

Will my deceased father also recieve reward for every good deed that I do? I’ve been told that pious child is sadaqah jaria so whatever good u do, ur parents get reward of that.

ANSWER: Whatever he had taught you, he will be rewarded for it whenever you do it.

Does wife & kids have the only right over man’s earnings or man’s parents also have the right over it in both cases whether the man’s father have a source of earning & is in fine health or he has no source of income & is in fine health but rather not being pro-active towards work/employment.

ANSWER: If a person provides for his wife and children their basic requirements and he has extra money and his father is in need, he must give him.

ANSWER: Two or more. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) also said, “Whoever has two daughters and treats them kindly, they will be a protection for him against the Fire.”

Sheikh, I respect my parents, I am kind to them, I don’t raise my voice to them as instructed in Islam. But my question is, is it also compulsory to obey everything they say? Like things which are not fard like they say to shorten the hair but what if I don’t like short hair and don’t cut them short?

ANSWER: If they order you to do something they believe that it is best for you and there is no harm on you because of it, it is advisable to obey them.

Sheikh, everyday while I out to the mosque for fajr all my family members are sleeping. I’m the youngest son and I live with my parents and an older sister. Do I wake them up? I asked them if I should and they showed reluctance. What should I do?

ANSWER: You should wake them up before going. If they don’t get up the sin is on them while you have done your job. If they clearly tell you not to wake them up, do not wake them.
