QUESTION: Sheikh, I will complete medical school this year and my elder brother is lagging behind by a few years. I’m ready for marriage and so is the person I want to marry. I have expressed my desire to my parents. They refused my request because they want me to wait for my brother and think it’s selfish for me to marry when his education hasn’t been completed. What should I do in this situation?

ANSWER: They have no right to stop you from marrying if you are financially independent and can take care of your wife and open up a home for her. Your brother’s marriage has nothing to do with you getting married. You can get married even if they are not ok with that.

QUESTION: My father was diabetic and he couldn’t fast for many years during ramadan and at that time he couldn’t give fidya due to finanacial conditions…then in 2019 he died after being half paralyzed due to brain stroke, so should i fast on his behalf or give fidyah for his missed fasts of many years

ANSWER: If he did not have the money to feed till he died, you can either pay on his behalf or fast on his behalf.

QUESTION: My uncle recently died because of liver cancer. It seems to us that he didnt pray almost at all. A few days before his death, he was told to accept that what he did was wrong and to repent, and he did so alhamdulillah. After that he suffered terribly due to brutal pain, thus he didnt start praying during his last days. Is his repentance still valid? Is he considered a martyr?

ANSWER: This is in Allah’s hands. We judge with what is apparent and only Allah knows and decides people’s fate. All you can do now is pray for his forgiveness.

QUESTION: Am I allowd to talk to my husbands brthr. He doesn’t tlk to me bcs I’m a non mahram. But I try to tlk to him, he still doesn’t talk or start a conversation with me like how he talks to his sisters. Is it haram for him to talk to me?

ANSWER: What he is doing is the right thing to do! Fear Allah and don’t be an advocate of satan! It’s not permissible for you to chit-chat, socialize or hang around with him as he’s a non mahram to you and you must be in complete hijab in front of him.

ANSWER: You must offer 4 rakahs dhuhr prayer.

QUESTION: My question: amazon has an app (Smart Store) we deposit an amount in their account/app. Amazon sells products worth that amount of th we deposit and will pay us 3% profit everyday (eg. On 100 dollars everyday amazon will pay 3 dollars and at the end of day will have 103 dollars in our account). Is this Halal or Haram ?

ANSWER: This is totally prohibited as this fixed profit is riba and one of the major sins in Islam. Besides, you don’t know what they had used your money in selling or whether they sold anything or simply deposited and took interests on it from a bank.
