ANSWER: If there is a penalty for delayed payment or a late fee payment, this is riba and prohibited But if they charge you more for your calls and sell you minutes in a higher price than usual as it is post paid, this is permissible.

QUESTION: Sheikh how is it to welcome hajis with flowers and cake cutting and decorating the house by writing hajj mubarak. Then the hajis host a grand function and then all other relatives call them over for a dinner. Doesn’t this all come under riya and it should be avoided?

ANSWER: This is not from the sunnah and it is not permissible to show off in such a fashion.

QUESTION: According to sahih Al-Bukhari hadith, it is not permissible to sell unripened fruits. So, is it permissible for me to buy unripened fruits from the seller? In our country, both ripened and unripened jackfruits, mangoes, are eaten. Grapes are usually sold unripened.

ANSWER: The prohibition is to buying it while it is on the tree and one doesn’t know whether it will be ripe or defected. If harvested and sold, this is permissible if one wants it that way.

ANSWER: You should shorten the prayers while traveling, you must not pray in full unless if you’re praying behind the local imam. If you pray it full, the prayer is valid. It is best not to combine though it is permissible.
