ANSWER:

What counts is whether the prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam and his companions did it or not! 

What others did after that doesn’t count to be part of Islam as the religion was completed at the time of the prophet and wiping the face was not part of it.

QUESTION: Sheikh, is it true that some of the Salaf used to wipe their face after dua, hence it doesn’t become a bid’ah. Can you please clarify?
