ANSWER: She is right! You should compliment your wife as this means a lot to them. You should praise her even if you don’t like her food or don’t like how she looks as this is something where you are even allowed to lie!

my husband used to work abroad. I recently discovered he had an affair for at least 2years whilst he was working away. ANSWER: This is not permissible as spying is prohibited in Islam. If he is remorseful over what he had done and he wants to be with you and his children, forgive him for the sake of Allah as by not doing this, you will be letting Shaytan destroy your marriage and life.

If I advise my wife to do something, and she says this is between me and Allah. And that she will take responsibility. Is my responsibility complete? If I advise her but not force her? Because they say there is no compulsion in religion.

ANSWER: Things that are obligatory, you should compel her to do. It is your duty to save her and your family from Hell Fire. Other things such as voluntary acts, you may tell her to do and if she does not do, it’s her responsibility.

ANSWER: Advice him when he is in good mood and you practice more in front of him. Try to indulge in fruitful discussions and reminders in a diplomatic and loving way.

Wife is “Lazy” in sleeping & waking. She is pregnant and sometimes I want her to be active & healthy only. When I say to get off the bed she refuses & when I say it is my order, she says “I am NOT obliged to obey because it is out of my capacity.” If this is correct then for which orders she has to obey? ANSWER: Life between the spouses is not orders and obedience! This can be found in companies but not between the spouses who are supposed to share love, compassion and mercy. If she is pregnant, it is normal for her to sleep more and to feel lazy.

Is family planning allowed between husband and wife such as use of contraceptives? Not contraceptives as in pills or birth controls but for example, condoms?

As per the subject, kindly advice if it is a bad deed to live separately from parents after marriage. Even though my father is earning, so many things are going around at home. There is no peace in my mind. Wife wants a different house. She tried to adjust but I believe I will lose her and my child if I continue to stay with my parents. Please advice.

ANSWER: It is not a bad deed to live separately after marriage. It is your wife’s right to have a separate accommodation after marriage and you can only give her the due rights.
