I am a Muslim male. I respect my mother so much but a few days back she told me that she had talked to her brother about getting his daughter married to me. When I said I don’t want to marry her, everyone stopped talking to me and started cursing me, saying that I will never get success. In this situation, what should I do? I really don’t want to marry her. How do I explain this to my mother?

They are not allowed to force you. Be kind with them and tell them the results of such a marriage. The wife will not be happy and neither will you and this would cause problems in the family.

If my husband is stopping me to go to my mother’s place, should I obey him even if my mother is very sick? What does Islam say?

You have to obey him. He is sinful if he doesn’t allow you to see her.

My mother slapped me and kicked me out of her house because I did not want a gift she and my sister bought me for my birthday as I previously told them I did not want to celebrate it as it was haram and instead If they insist to give me money to give to charity. Please advise

You were wrong in what you had done! Celebrating it is prohibited but accepting a gift is permissible. Apologize to your mother and be dutiful to her and don’t upset her.

You can delay pregnancy for two years or three to give gaps between babies but you can’t stop it permanently

It is normal in our country to be with our mother in law once we get married. What exactly a wife should do when the mother in law is not letting his son to take his wife along with him though he s capable of taking or somewhere outing when he comes from his workplace and the son is listening what his mother is asking him to do? And it s been only six months since got married; is it wrong for the wife to expect from the husband to take her somewhere out? Hoping for a possible answer.

She should talk to her husband privately and explain to him that he is not obliged to listen to his mother when she interferes with their lives! Beloved Sheikh, would you please advise me what to do if one’s mother is using offensive, foul and abusive words and also curses a lot just because son is not willing to shave/trim beard and not willing to do any haram job and other unIslamic acts, as mother is extremely materialistic and has very little interests/not at all towards the Deen of Allah. Can one live separately in such a situation? Because this is causing great time trouble even in pleasing Allah!

I understand fully that the mother is your door to Jannah but I am in a difficult situation. I was adopted as an infant. In this case would my birth mother or my adoptive mother be considered my door to Jannah? I understand I should respect both just as being human beings. But which one of the two specifically qualifies for this criteria?

My mother-in-law spreads lies about me in home and to my in-law relatives, and ignites hatred in the family which causes my father in law to stop talking to me several times. My husband is a very good Muslim, but he couldn’t find any solution since his father won’t talk to him about it as well. I try to take their care as much as I can, but nothing works. what to do ?
