QUESTION: Many people in India and the subcontinent say ‘Allah hafiz’ when leaving from home or for somewhere like how others say goodbye. Is this permissible? For one should say full salam like ‘Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu’

ANSWER: This is permissible but it is not from the sunnah as the sunnah is to say assalamu alaikum when leaving. No problem in combining both.

QUESTION: If I accidentally break my fast without knowing that it could break my fast, would my fast be broken and will have to make that up (As a hadith says that we are forgiven for ignorance)?

QUESTION: If me and my wife travel far enough to become considered travellers, once we reach our destination do I still need to accompany her as a mahram if she commutes around the town or only when she needs to travel again? For example we leave from London to Birmingham, can she commute around Birmingham without me as mahram while we are there?

ANSWER: No problem in that! Once you have reached your destination, she can move around in the city providing it’s safe.

QUESTION: I am a girl I am living with my parents and they force me to go in a bidah gathering and if I disobey them my father will fight with mother I didn’t want to go what should I do my father and mother didn’t understand if we tell them this is haram if someone die the firsts 40 day every Friday they make gathering and served food to people so can I go I have no other option

ANSWER: This is not permissible as there’s no pleasing or obedience to anyone at the cost of displeasing and disobedience to Allah! Let them fight few times and after that they will calm down and accept that you don’t participate in such innovations.

QUESTION: My mother has severe paranoia and psychosis, forbidding and constantly fearing us from once Jumu‘ah, phones, going out or opening doors due to delusions. Refusing causes violent screaming. She lacks illness insight. I love her, but this is overwhelming. Islamically, where is the line for parent obedience here? What must I obey, and when may I respectfully refuse paranoid demands?

ANSWER: There is no pleasing or obedience to anyone at the cost of displeasing and disobedience to Allah. You must not obey her if she is stopping you from your religious duties.

ANSWER: Of course not ! You must repent to Allah while showing deep remorse and sincerity for having anything to do with her in the first place as there are no such thing as a platonic relationship. You must break off all communication with her and move on, minding your own business.

QUESTION: Sheikh, if someone is tutoring a mixed group of individuals and lowers his gaze, but at times, from the corner/part of his gaze, a blurred image of a non-mahram may be visible, which he then tries to refocus on the work on the table or laptop, is he lowering his gaze properly, or is this compromising his lowering of the gaze?

ANSWER: How would I know? This is between him and Allah who says: “He knows that which deceives the eyes and what the breasts conceal.”

QUESTION: Working as a cashier sometimes when there are female customers, I say them hi or smile at them (intentional& unintentional) or reply them with a smile when they say me hi. is it ok or would tht make my income haram? Can I smile or say them hello without looking at them?
