I did a lot for my elder brother with his education, job, financial support and giving advise during difficult times. He is very ungrateful and self-centered. He comments negative things about me after I had done so much for him. I really want to cut off the relationship with him as it is affecting my mental health. Is it permissible?

ANSWER: No problem.

Curious brother wants to know: The Prophet ‎ﷺ will be in highest level of Paradise with best of everything. Then, why someone will be humiliated if they don’t send salawat after hearing his name or dua is left hanging if salawat is not sent or salah is not valid if salawat is not sent upon him and his family? ANSWER: Allah is also not in need of our prayers, why do we then pray 5 times a day or we will be thrown in hell? It is Allah who ordered us to do this as a form of worship! If someone is arrogant and doesn’t want to do that, he will pay the price.

Ya sheikh I happened to be in a bathroom washing my hands and a man walked in and said the salam, and I didn’t answer the greeting. Have I done the wrong thing by not answering the Salam in a bathroom?

ANSWER: You must have replied to him since it was just a bathroom and not toilet. If you were doubtful, you could have said: wa alaikum!

ANSWER: Being in menses does not have any impact on the validity of her Duaa! It is heard and accepted.

ANSWER: Saying bismillah in the beginning of every surah is a highly recommended sunnah but this is not mandatory.

If a father is never happy with his family and kids the father always lies and backbite about them to their relatives and doesn’t give their haq properly so I heard jannah’s one door will remains close if one of the parents are unhappy with their kids? So what can I do when this father is never satisfied.

ANSWER: As long as you are fulfilling your duties towards him and you are respectful and obedient within reason, you will enter paradise in Sha Allah even if your father is not unjustly satisfied.
