I was watching a lie detector test and I watched the video and I believed the test tells the truth for a little bit but then I thought it may be against Islam so inside I started to convince myself that it doesn’t but my heart was still convinced that it does tell the truth. Is the shirk and will it affect my prayers for 40 days.

ANSWER: This is not shirk. The lie detector test is a scientific procedure where they determine if you are lying by the blood pressure, pulse rate etc and its not always accurate, hence its not shirk to believe in it or not.

There was a Twitter giveaway in which I had to like and retweet a tweet. The tweet was about a racing game. But the tweet had a pic of developers standing for a group photo and there was a woman and her face was not covered. The woman was not the main part of the tweet, the game was If I win the giveaway is it halal? Can I take half of it and donate half to charity?

ANSWER: It’s not permissible to take part in it and the giveaway is haram for you for promoting something that includes haram.

ANSWER: No. There’s nothing prescribed to be said after yawning.

In my country, oddly people are named Elahi which if you think about the meaning is pretty shocking. But would it be wrong for me to acknowledge the name. So if someone says Elahi won the election and I say ok?

What is the most authentic opinion concerning the obligation of paying zakatul maal on behalf of minors? I have read that the majority regarded it as obligatory but for example imam Abu Hanifa and sheikh Al Albani did not do so. The arabic word الصبي is used in this regard but to which age refers this? Is this from the birth until puberty?

ANSWER: It’s obligatory to pay zakat for minors and insane people as well as long it reaches nisab and stays for a whole hijab year.

I am an accountant. I quit my job because it involved recording riba at times. And job hunting. Almost all jobs an accountant can get would involve recording riba. Now I got a job offer in a bank. And this job won’t involve recording riba, but filing reports to authorities. Is it acceptable? Or at least more acceptable to work in a Bank w/o recording riba, than work in non-Bank and record riba?

ANSWER: It’s totally prohibited to work in any department of a riba based bank, even if you work as a janitor, its prohibited and the income is haram and its one of the major sins in Islam!

ANSWER: No problem in this whatsoever. What you have heard is totally baseless and a superstitious belief that has got nothing to do with islam.

If I live in Russia and there is one Muslim in my family. Can I inherit property from a relative or receive it if a will is drawn up for me? Does it have to be a written and notarized will?

ANSWER: If you mean, can you inherit from a non muslim relative then this is not permissible. They can gift you in their lifetime or can write a will of 1/3 of less of their property in their will.

When someone talks bad about me in front of anyone and the person listening to him comes to me and tells me he said such and such thing about me? How do I respond to that? Do I confront him or just pray?
