QUESTION: As a doctor with a strong interest in acquiring Islamic knowledge, can I take admission in a 3-year preparatory Alema course? Will this be suitable for me, or should I complete the books I have first before enrolling? QUESTION: I have a friend who casually keeps singing English songs, all in their accent and all..I try 2 tell her tht dis is imitating the disbeliever, so kufr. She says its allowed to sing without instruments. How should I advise her? This is kufr right?

ANSWER: This is not kufr. You are not allowed to speak without knowledge like this as this is one of the most heinous sins in Islam according to 7:33 If you are a male, you must break all communication with her as it is not permissible to be “friends” with the opposite gender.

QUESTION: I usually prefer to make du‘a and istighfar while lying in bed before sleeping, as I find it more comfortable and free from distractions. I do this solely to seek closeness to Allah and not with the intention of introducing any bid‘ah, as I understand this is neither a sunnah nor a mandatory act. Is it permissible for me to continue this practice with this intention?

QUESTION: I was fasting on day of Arafah but had to break my fast due to severe Migraine (headache). Is it a major sin to break fast as I was told by some people that “‘it’s better not to keep fast than to break it?'” Do I have to make up that fast? Is the ruling same as of Fasts of Ramadan?

ANSWER: No problem in this even without any genuine reason as this is a voluntary fast and not mandatory. If you are sick, it’s permissible to break even the mandatory fast!

QUESTION: I’m married and well settled man. I give zakat on my wife’s (housewife /non-working) jewellery . My father-in-law is a daily wage earner, with no savings and has just a very old house , which he lives in ( and is falling apart ). My question is, can i give the zakat money to him?
