ANSWER: She can search on matrimonial sites however, she must not have any communication with potential suitors as this is her wali’s job.

is it impermissible if a person cuts off a abusive family member that does nothing but insult them and say things like “I wish you die” and “I wish you go to hell”? There is a hadith that says “The one who severs the ties of kinship will not enter Paradise.”

ANSWER: You must not cut ties of kinship with them. You should at least give them Salam whenever you meet and keep the conversation limited to phone calls once in a while, presuming these are mahram relatives.

My parents gave my custody to my current family when i was 6. I am legally adopted in my current family. I am soon to be married in sha Allah. I want to know whose name should be on my nikah papers. My custodians or my real father?

sheikh, in our society the parents of male groom doesn’t do the congrats of marriage date fixing because they are dominant being the family of a boy. Therefore my family has decided we will not give them the call of congrats otherwise they would feel themselves superior and we Don wanna support their dominancy nd pride bcz in islam all are equal . ANSWER: A man is responsible to look after his wives and children’s needs, regardless of her working or not.

I am a mother with 5 kids and a wife of a husband who has been married with him for 26 years. I am currently in a situation with my husband who does not provide for me and my kids, he does so now and then. I have been patient for 20 years but he somehow provides for his brothers and sisters without fail. I’ve tried convincing him for too long. Any advice?

Sheikh, I’m newly married to my wife. There is a tradition in my culture, after the wedding, the in-laws expect to see the bed sheet or hear from their children if she was a virgin or not. I told my mother-in-law that I will not answer this question and I don’t believe I’m obligated to share. She said this is not haram and not an innovation. Please advise.

ANSWER: This kind of practice is totally inappropriate and unislamic and what you did was absolutely correct. This is degrading to the bride, they have no right in asking such a question.

My entire family is forcing me to marry someone. I refuse them a lot of time but they are still insisting. Everytime I pray I always ask Allah for guidance but still I can’t force myself into situation that I really don’t like to be. I even told them that in Islam it is a sin to force your child to marry someone. I am starting to be rude at them just to let them understand my side.

ANSWER: You must not be rude but talk with utmost respect but firmly that you cannot marry him and Islam has given this right to you of rejecting someone if you don’t like him.

Sheikh, I did a terrible mistake by talking hard to my mom. I didn’t understand at the situation but later on I realized that I did something terrible for which my mom cried. It’s something based on the income of my job. I do earn very little approx. 30$ per month by teaching in a school and the case is based on this thing. I feel so guilty for doing this.
