QUESTION: In Bangladesh, owners of flats take a security deposit money from tenants which is returned to the tenants when they vacate the flat? Are the owners of flats supposed to pay zakah on this security deposit money?

ANSWER: This money belongs to the tenants and they are obliged to give zakat on it.

QUESTION: Till 7 years my husband gave the zakath as i don’t work and he himself opted to do so . Also once when he was unable to pay it i sold some jewelry and paid the zakath. Now last year i gave most of my jewelry back to my parents saying i don’t need it and i want to return it back . When he learned about this he said either give me the zakath amount of all those years or the gold .

ANSWER: He has no right in asking for such a thing as he paid it as a gift and not as a loan. The prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam said: the one who goes back on his gift is like a dog that vomits and then eats back its own vomit!

QUESTION: If one is not savings neither at the end of every month and same by the end of year but living good life Alhamdulillah. is Zakat 2.5% still due on that person. Note: Doesn’t hold or inherited any property or wealth.

ANSWER: As long as its above nisab and in your mother’s possession for over a hijri year, she must pay zakat on it every year, until she actually, physically gives that as a gift to her daughter.

QUESTION: I hv alwys seen my fathr pay my mothr’s gold zakat diligently. I didn’t knw b4 dt wife is sinful. My hsbnd hs paid zakat 4 last fw yrs. Ds yr i kept remnding him. ANSWER: No problem if the husband gives his wife’s zakat out of love and compassion (when she authorises him). If he’s not going to pay it on your behalf, you must pay it immediately by selling some of the gold if you don’t have cash. Few days after eid won’t matter.

QUESTION: Some moulanas in pakistan claim that if someone have 20g Gold and other Some Silver (non Gold) and Some Money and one year passed on it. So there will be collectively Zakat on it. What if some one have 84g Gold and 84g (Silver) and some Money, it it necessary to give zakat on it? Please Guide. Thank you

ANSWER: If the cash would be sufficient enough to complete the threshold of both the gold and sliver, he must give zakat on them as well.

QUESTION: Can zakat be given as goods/ ration kits instead of cash? I heard from my friend that it is not permissible for us to make decisions on behalf of poor and needy on zakat cash and it should be given in cash form only. Is it true, Please advise.

QUESTION: I hope you are doing well, I ive in a non-muslim contry and I found a muslim named organisation that spends for kaffarah as I saw on their Web…but when I said “kafarah to be shared with 10 grown muslims” they replied that they don’t discriminate between race, religion or gender. ANSWER: No, it’s not valid. It must be only given to Muslims. You must pay again to poor and needy Muslims.

QUESTION: Can you please help me with a question about Zakat? I have 300gm of gold, which is above the nisab, and I can’t pay Zakat at the moment. Can I gift this gold to my children aged 5, 11, and 17? I saw on a website that it’s possible if they have full control over it. Can you explain what “full control” means?
