ANSWER:

As long as its above nisab and in your mother’s possession for over a hijri year, she must pay zakat on it every year, until she actually, physically gives that as a gift to her daughter. 

QUESTION: Sheikh my parents bought gold jewellery for my sister to give her as a gift on her wedding so do we have to give zakat for those jewelry because here some people said that you don’t have to give zakat for gift because this is not your you will not use it. Is it true Sheikh?
