I take classes from a reputed Islamic learning centre here. When I asked my female teacher regarding the 6 Shawwal fasts, she says since I definitely intend 2 make up my Ramadan fasts b4 next Ramadan, I can fast the 6 Shawwal fasts without making up my missed Ramadan fasts (due to periods) and then make them up anytime during the yr.
