Sir I can find people who go to shrines and pray there, when I asked one of them that why is he praying to graves when it is a shirk, the reply was ” I am not praying to him (the one whose shrine is), I am asking him to pray for me to Allah “. My question is, Is it allowed to pray in such a way? If no,how can I prove it according to Quran?

One of my brother believes in Taweez amulets and he is also wearing it on his hand. i told him that its a shirk. but he is not accepting it that it is shirk. how do i convince him that it is shirk. please give some detail explanation and references of Quran and sunnah regarding taweez amulets. Sir, can we visit a Dargah which has been built against the saying of our beloved Prophet (PBUH), 4,5 feet heighted qabar of a so called ValiAllah for ziarah?

This is not permissible at all.

many people here in kashmir visit dargahs and mausoleums to pray, but going to dargahs is haraam in islam, so is it allowed to pray there ? And also r these people who go to dargahs out of the fold of islam?

This is not permissible and praying is void there. Asking the dead or believing in their blessing is shirk, let alone slaughtering for them.

Sheikh is it shirk if u just hold that chain in your hand ???or this is sin??

You should not have lucky charms in your possession to begin with! But if you happen to hold it without believing in it, this is not shirk but it is sinful

In our region, a lot of people believe on the a term called “zaicha” for marriae proposals. In this practice a person (aalim) takes girl’s and boy’s name along with date of births and mother’s maiden name and using their “knowledge of stars” they find the result. They called this trick Islamic and usually named as “Istikhara”. Can you please elaborate how does common man understand and trust it?

Once a difficulty struck one of my relatives, I told them to seek help from Allah alone. They told me that the friends of Allah are closer to Allah and they prefer the wasilah (I do not really know what they mean by such) of ‘I forget who’. I am sceptical on their customary belief…We are from Mauritius…I believe Indian origin…

This is forbidden and an innovation and it can easily mount to shirk and associating others with Allah.

As a gift I was given a bracket that has a hamsa (with no eye on it). Is this shirk/an amulet?

I wanted to know that if out of the blue, a thought appears in our minds that is shirk,and we try to wsrd this thought off as much as possible. Will we be held accountable for this or is it Shaytaan?

No, as long as you are fighting it!

I joined a course 3 days before named YES+ but i was unaware about their doings. They told us that they are going to increase our focus and concentration towards our studies by simply doing a breathing exercise. Ist 2 days were normal but on the 3rd day they meditate us by playing some hindu slokas and also we did sajda’s towards 4 directions, but i was chanting only AllAH’S name.Did i do shirk ??

If you didn’t prostrate or said what they had said, you didn’t commit shirk but surely you were sinful for not leaving the place immediately, once you discovered this.
