my husband and I have been married for a few years الحمداللهand he was interest in taking a second wife in the past but I did not like that idea when we first married. Now I want him to have a second wife because I know he is religious and I am being selfish to keep a good man to myself but he will now not believe me if I tell him. How can I convince him I am happy if he takes another wife?

You shouldn’t approach him as long as he is not intending to do it firmly! Get yourself out of this idea and don’t involve yourself in something you will regret later! If he goes and marries on his own, be patient and don’t object but don’t push him to do so!

Does a second wife have any mandated duties towards the first wife of her husband? Some friends of my husband are saying that as a second wife I have a duty to call the first one to say hello and pay respects because i “found” her in the marriage, and that i am mandated to know and have a relationship with her. Is this true by the deen?

No, it is baseless. The are no rights between them at all as they are total strangers!

If a previously married woman, or one that has never married, gives birth to a child six months after her new marriage, is it correct to do a medical test to verify who the father is?

No, it is not! Six months is sufficient!

I’ve started practicing Islam a lot. One of the things I’m now doing on a regular basis is lowering the gaze from semi nude women. Looking at them corrupts my heart. My worry is how will I cope, looking at my wife after marriage during intercourse or times of privacy. Although, there’s nothing wrong in it, she’s still a woman and those feelings of corruption could come. Thanks

The nikkah is during the day not at night. Is it compulsory for couples to get intimate on the first night of their nikkah?

It doesn’t make any difference. The purpose of a wedding night and a MARRIAGE is to consummate it and to be intimate. If they both don’t want to, this is up to them.

I need to know if a woman can be married to a man without having any physical relationship or any contact at all. I’ve been married to an impotent man who is also gay and not willing to change or get any sort of help. After 2 years of misery I want to get a divorce. Am I still entitled to my mahar? Is this nikkah even valid?

The nikah is valid and you deserve the mahar and you can demand separation from the Judge based on his medical condition and his impotency which can be easily diagnosed by a medical report.

When we were about to get married, my husband told me at the eve of our wedding that he exhausted his money and does not have the mahr. So I told them that he had already given me, so during the wedding the amount was just mentioned but he did not give me till date. I read somewhere that without mahr the marriage is invalid. What is the ruling now?

If the marriage contract was done but the dowry or mahar was not paid, this doesn’t affect the marriage as it is a DEBT with the husband.

I know that Islam allows a Muslim man to marry from ahlu kitaab (Jews and Christians). But does it still count when they are practicing kufr and shirk?Who are the Jews and Christians whom you are allowed to marry?
