I take care of my sister’s kids and sometimes, when I see them doing something inappropriate, I say “By God if you do that I will hit you.” I swear an oath in order to scare them and make realize that I am serious But sometimes they end up doing what I told them not to do. And when they do it, eventhough I made an oath that I will hit them, I mostly do not. My question is do I have to offer expiation to all the times I swore an oath without really acting upon it? You have to give expiation on all these oaths which is to feed 10 poor people or clothe them. If you are unable to do so, you must fast 3 days for each oath. You should have hit them lightly just so that you wouldn’t have broken your oath.

I know if anyone wants to swear, he / she should swear in the name of Allah only. Many people, specially in Arab countries say “WALLAHI”. Is it not a sin because swearing in the name of Allah again and again is a sin? Saying “WALLAHI” in every sentence, is it not a sin?

You must repent and show Allah sincere remorse and never go back to saying such things. As for the things you said you will not do, you must feed 10 poor people or clothe them if you want to do these things.

I’ve paid the amount of 10 meals with the intention of feeding 10 people through saddaqa online, not knowing that it would reach 10 people, is this acceptable?
