Funerals

It is not permissible for a Muslim to attend the funeral of a non-Muslim “And never (O Muhammad) pray for any of them (hypocrites) who dies, nor stand at his grave. Certainly they disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger, and died while they were Faasiqoon (rebellious, — disobedient to Allah and His Messenger).” [al-Tawbah 9:84]

If you mean by attending a funeral is to attend the washing of the deceased, this is permissible. What is not permissible it to walk behind a funeral or to visit a graveyard. Looking at the face of a non Mahram male is permissible.
