One of my muslim brother accepted christianity claiming that qur’an directs towards bible. He sent me the following verses from qur’an and asked me to elaborate it.. I don’t have much knowledge. Can you please give me possible explanation? WHY DOES THE QURAN DIRECT MUSLIMS TO BIBLE? This is a question for the muslim posters mainly but others may join in. I have noticed that a lot of muslims posters seem to be of the opinion that the bible (hebrew and greek scriptures) are not to be viewed as the Word of God…that the text is compromised and untrustworthy. HOWEVER, I WOULD LIKE TO ASK WHAT THE OPINION IS ON THESE VERSES FROM THE QURAN WHICH ENCOURAGES THE USE OF THE BIBLE? Āl ‘Imrān [3]:3, 4, NJD: “He has revealed to you the BOOK with the truth, confirming the scriptures which preceded it; for He has already revealed the TORAH and the GOSPEL [Injīl in Arabic] for the guidance of men.” Al-Mā’idah [5]:46, 47: And in their footsteps, We sent ‘Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), confirming the TAURAT (Torah) that had come before him, and We gave him the INJEEL (GOSPEL), in which was guidance and light and confirmation of the Taurat (Torah) that had come before it, a guidance and an admonition for Al-Muttaqun (the pious) YŪNUS [10]:94.“IF THOU WERT IN DOUBT AS TO WHAT WE HAVE REVEALED UNTO THEE, THEN ASK THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN READING THE BOOK FROM BEFORE THEE.” It seems to me that the Quran is endorsing the use of the holy bible rather then trying to correct its teachings. I’d like to know where this idea that the bible needed correcting comes from? AND IF THE BIBLE WAS FALSIFIED LATER; AS MUSLIMS CLAIM, THEN WHEN IS LATER? It must have been before Mohammad’s time, otherwise he would not have come and declared that it had been changed… BUT THEN IF IT WAS BEFORE MOHAMMAD, WHY WOULD THE QURAN (WHICH WAS WRITTEN AFTER MOHAMMAD’S TIME) DIRECT PEOPLE TO THE BIBLE? THIS ALL SEEMS VERY CONTRADICTORY TO ME.

Before someday, a Hindu man came to me and asked money as help. He said that his father is dead and he need some money to perform a post-incineration ritual for his dead father. As he said that he was poor, I have him some money, it was very little amount. But after that I become frustrated thinking that was it a sin or not as my help will be used in a non Muslim rituals? But I gave him thinking that I am helping a poor. Now please tell me what is the ruling and what should I do for tawbah?

Assalamu aalikom It is not permissible to help him for such rituals. You should repent to Allah and ask Him for forgiveness.

Assalam’ alakum. Is it permissible to accept the invitation of our maid (who is abuddist) to attend their New Year tea party. They have been working forus for 50 years now. have arranged this particularly for us and will feel as if we don’t care about our maids if we don’t attend.

Wa aalikum salam This is not permissible, as she has her religion and you have yours. Simply explain to her that this is not allowed in Islam.

I have 51 years and i accept islam alhamdulillah few months a go.I have 2 chrestian children (28 and 16 and they live with me))and tomorrow they have Feast. Practicaly this is the first time when i faced problems,i dont know how to deal with them.I will not dye eggs for them ,and i will not join them,but my question is can i make some sweats for them? I had this issue with my friend. We were just having a discussion and she was talking about the bible stating that in the bibleit says something along the lines of: whilst women are giving birth they have tremendous pains and that is because of what Eve had done – eating from the fruit of the tree that God had forbidden.What can be a comeback for this? What can I tell me friend in the light of this argument?

I couldn’t find in the Quran and the Sunnah what supports such an allegation. Besides, Adam and Eve both ate from that forbidden tree. Why is it that only Eve is paying the price? If there isn’t anything supporting this from the Quran and the Sunnah, then it is not logical. And Allah knows best

I have question about keeping easter eggs in Muslim home. Is it is permissible that we keep them in our home, if we recive it from our neighbours???

It is not permissible at all to keep such eggs or even to accept them from Christians when they give it to us. We have to be strict in this and apologize from them in a nice way. And Allah knows best

There is no comparison between helping a needy Muslim and helping a Christian. It is an obligation to help a Muslim.

Is there a reward for helping a Christian even if it is Christian children charity? Please clarify?

There is no comparison between helping Muslims and helping others, but you will be rewarded in both but the Muslims are a priority. Having said that, you are not allowed to give charity to organizations that are Christian as they will use the money to preach their false religion.
