QUESTION: In the masjid I go to, people pray Tahiyatul Masjid and after that Adhan is called and then people stand up to pray 2-4 Rakat and after that Khutbah starts then the Iqamah and then 2 Rakat Jummah prayer and after that you can do 2-4 Rakat Sunnah prayer in the masjid. As far as I know there is no Sunnah before Jummah except Tahiyatul are the 2-4 Rakats after the Adhan an innovation?

ANSWER: There are no Sunnah prayers before Friday prayer except the two rakahs of Tahiyatul Masjid that you must pray before sitting down and the general voluntary nafl that is not restricted to a particular number until the Imam comes out.

QUESTION: Can a person attend Friday prayer even though he has constant gas problem which could be smelly and loud ?

ANSWER: One must be proud of his Islam and give Islamic or Arabic names. It is inappropriate to give such altered names just to blend in with the disbelievers.

QUESTION: Should a woman remove her hijab if she didnt put it for Allah, her intention wasnt to please Him, rather she put it for other reasons such as she was forced, for her husband, to show-off etc.?

ANSWER: Taking off hijab is a major sin, she should fix her intention and do her best to seek the pleasure of Allah.

QUESTION: In my country, on marriage day, the cousins of the bride blocks the groom on ceremony gate untill he pays them some cash. They do it out of fun. This has become a culture now, even sometimes the groom comes prepared to give them money. In my sisters marriage, eventually the groom gave money and I received a portion from that without realizing this could be wrong. Can I keep the money?

ANSWER: No problem in this as long as its not something exclusively done by non muslims and there is no music, free mixing etc.

QUESTION: At school, I don’t have the space to pray.So I go to the nearest mosque on my lunch break to pray dhuhr as soon as it starts.But I don’t have the time to wait for the jama’a as I’d miss my next class, so I pray seperately, on my own. ANSWER: If you are a female, no problem in praying on your own even if the jamah starts because its not mandatory on women to pray in the masjid in congregation.

QUESTION: When I’m offering Salah and the surah I recite after surah fateha has a sajdah in it (e.g. surah Alaq), do I perform sajdah right away and then get back up and go for the rukuh or do I offer prayer like I always do and after saying assalamualaikum wa rehmatullah (complete in the Salah), I stand up and do sajdah separately? Please guide.

ANSWER: You do it immediately (if you wish, since doing it is not mandatory) and then go to ruku and continue the prayer. You must not do it after the prayer is over as the time has passed for it.
