QUESTION: A person isnt sure how many oaths they broke. They made an oath about not doing something but broke it, then took the same oath and broke it again. Other oaths were about past, i.e. they said/texted “by Allah I didn’t say/do this”, but they don’t remember if they really didn’t say/do it. The person doesn’t remember how many times both of cases happened. What should the person do?

ANSWER: If one made an oath that he did not do something but was lying, there is no expiation for this as it is too grave and serious to be expiated.

QUESTION: I do small time perfume business. I take orders from customers and engage my supplier in another country. The customers sometimes ask – “can you check how much your supplier sells a certain perfume for” that I did not advertise. If I quote a value higher than the supplier, to earn a profit, is this considered lying?

ANSWER: One should have belief in the divine decree and embrace the fact that this was preordained and there is nothing else he can do about it. As long as he did his best, he should be content and all is for his own good.

QUESTION: I have some decorative items in my home which have the name of Allah Azzawajal and Prophet Mohammed May peace be upon him on them. I see lot of mosques and the name of Allah pasted on the walls. Is it permissible to keep them or should we treat them similar to issue of Qur’anic verses being hanged in houses?

ANSWER: It is not permissible to hang such items as Allah’s names are to be respected and not to be used as decoration and we can’t have the name of Allah and our prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam side by side as if they are equal.

QUESTION: I want to ask regarding missed fast because of menstruation. Few years ago I came to know about make up of missed fast. What to do about those missed fast which I did not make up? And even after knowing to make up later I could made up for few years not all. How should I make up for those now as I don’t know the count of fasts. Please guide.
