QUESTION: In the local areas of Srilanka, during Ramadan specially in the last 10 nights we pray 6 or 8 rakats called Qiyam al layl in congregation, in which imam will recite very long surahs after fatiha, like Surat ar rahman, 1/3 of surat bakara… We also pray Taraweeh and witr extra. Also they turn-off the lights in the masjidh while praying qiyam al layl.

ANSWER: Turning off the light is an innovation and an indication that they are not following the sunnah in their practices. Try to find another masjid to pray in.

QUESTION: My lips feel dry during fasting even tho i moisten it often. I try to lick them once and then wait for it to dry out as i dont know whether licking wet lips would break my fast or not. But after iftar, I dont feel like my lips get dry quickly as when I am fasting. is it permissible to lick wet lips after depositing saliva to avoid dry lips?

QUESTION: I was diagnosed with rectal ulcers, and the doctor has prescribed me to put the medication (tablet) inside my (colon) rectum via my finger twice a day . QUESTION: If I give charity to poor muslims for the purpose of asking Allah to heal my wife’s illness, can I pay that charity from my zakat money, or must that be sadaqa in addition to my zakat because I am asking for help.

ANSWER: No problem in asking Allah while giving your zakat money. However, it would be more effective if you were to give charity that is not mandatory upon you to give.

QUESTION: If i experience a wet dream before Sehri and are unable to perform ghusl before Fajr, can i perform tayammum instead. Should i required to do wudu for the Fajr prayers?

ANSWER: You must make ghusl even if you have to do it after the fajr time has entered No problem in eating sehri without doing ghusl
