I read that we have to prostrate while reading the Qur’an in some verses. Just wanted to know how & when do we prostrate exactly?

It is a single prostration for reciting certain verses from the Quran and there are 14 places in the Quran with a mark next to them telling you to prostrate.

Is it permissible to read the noble Quran to benifit the dead?

Tafseer of the verse “He has let loose the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together. Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress” [ar-Rahmaan 55:19-20] In verses 19-22 in surah Ar-Rahman, Allah refers to two seas meeting side by side, and both of them having a barrier. What does this refer to?.

Allah’s words and commands are so many and endless to the degree that even if the oceans were to be ink, they will run out if used to write Allah’s words. Allah’s words that control this universe and make it run and everything in it.

Was the Qur’aan revealed all at once or piecemeal?Some opinions suggest that the Qur’aan was revealed in a single night, and some say that the Qur’aan was revealed over several years in Makkah and Madinah. The meaning of the verse, “They will dwell therein for all the time that the heavens and the earth endure, except as your Lord wills” [Hood 11:107]I would like an explanation of the meaning of this passage, and the most correct interpretation of it. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “As for those who are wretched, they will be in the Fire, sighing in a high and low tone.They will dwell therein for all the time that the heavens and the earth endure, except as your Lord wills. Verily, your Lord is the Doer of whatsoever He intends (or wills).And those who are blessed, they will be in Paradise, abiding therein for all the time that the heavens and the earth endure, except as your Lord wills: a gift without an end.” [Hood 11:106-108] May it be understood from this that whoever enters Paradise may be expelled from it if Allaah wills? What is the rulling on reading the quran with “maqamat”?

This is permissible but it should not be very melodious or imitating the songs.

There are many morning / evening supplications on your website and on Islamic finder.org. I recite these as as well as some selected verses from the different chapters of the Holy Quraan Is it necessary to recite Bismillah Hirrahman Nirraheem when reciting every supplication? or is it enough to recite Bismillah Hirrahman Nirraheem once in the beginning.

It is best to recite it in the beginning of every Surah but it is not mandatory.

If we are busy in reading Quraan or remembering Allah, and if someone says Salaam, we are obliged to reply. My question is – Is replying by tongue mandatory OR can we reply even by the gesture of hand also?

You must reply in a way he hears you saying it.

When i was reading the quran i notice in two sentences above it was letter ‘jeem’ written in small print. does this mean something or to pronounce in a differnct way or why is it there?
