In a recent question you said someone must attend the congregational prayers in the mosque if they lived 3 – 5 km away from the mosque. What is the basis of this distance ? Does this assume transport by car or only on foot ? If it relates to the distance the adhan can be heard (possibly with amplification) the adhan can’t be heard 3 km away !!!

It is the distance that an athan would reach in a place where no concrete buildings or modern cars and noise making machines are there.

A traveller arrive at destination at asr time,can he bring forwrd the zohor and do jama ta’khir and qasr upon reaching home.

If he travelled from a city that is not his home, he can do that. but if he is travelling from his home and the athan of Thuhur was given before he started travelling, he must pray it on time

Can the Isha prayer be postponed until you go to sleep or does it have to be performed on time?

It must be performed on time and can be prayed before the Islamic midnight.

Du’ah should be done after the tashahud and before the salam.

Is it permissible for me to pray my fardh salah at work, or must i take time out to pray in congregation at the masjid?The masjid is close to my home, however, from where i work, it would take me more than an hour to walk there. Should i leave this job or is it permissable to continue working here?

It is permissible to pray at work as long as there is no masjid in the vicinity. It is recommended to pray in congregation with another co-worker. If there is no other Muslim, you may pray on your own.

The mandatory Isha prayer is around 9.20 p.m. My daughter 9 years old is unable to keep awake past her usual bedtime which is about 8.30-8.45 p.m. Therefore, is it feasible to let her offer her

Is it necessary to pray 2 rakats or 4 of sunnat along with ishan fard ? or is it ok to pray fard alone ? i have heard some people saying that when u pray ishan fard it is necessary to pray 2 or 4 rakat of sunnat , leaving aside witr.

It is not mandatory and one can skip it though skipping it is not recommended.

Can a revert sister put a salah book/paper in front of her while praying if she has fears she will make a mistake in the recitation or tasbih?
