Yes, one has to lower his gaze. Some paintings are more attractive than the reality. Besides this kind of painting is haram in Islam.

The picture must be covered or erased.

It is forbidden to draw faces of the living things as long as they contrain the features of the face such as eyes, nose, mouth etc. this is imitating the creation of Allah and it is a major sin.
