Is it possible to change our own hearts? I would like to soften my heart, but because I committed sins in the past I am afraid that I will enter hell and these thoughts are a big burden. I always feel ashamed before praying to Allah because I am ashamed of some things that I did/do. Does it help regarding previous major sins, if we try to work on our character and soften our hearts?

ANSWER: Part of your repentance is to ask Allah for forgiveness every time you remember your sins. It is when you stop that you should start to worry.

If I drive my family to the mall and my sis doesn’t wear hijab am I sinful?

ANSWER: If this is not assisting her on haram and you are doing the least of the two evils by driving her and not letting her go with a non mahram, in sha Allah you are not sinful as long as you are reminding her of Allah’s sharia.

Some friends wronged me and they admitted that and also asked for forgiveness. I forgave them but I don’t mix with them or willingly talk to them. Am I wrong by doing such?

ANSWER: This is totally prohibited as it defies the very purpose of hijab and free mixing is prohibited in Islam.

Sheikh, I’ve had many female friends and they all end up having feelings for me. At first, I too love some of them but then it didn’t work out well. Now they are saying they will never forgive me. What should I do at this moment? I know they are non mahram but they are crying now..should I talk to them sometimes or should I cut off every contact?

Many of my Muslims nowadays support homosexuality. I try to tell them that its haraam and with proof about why its haraam, but all I get from them is mockery. I feel so bad for myself now.I have a feeling of “surveillance” around my friends. Its like I say my opinion and then all of a sudden they make fun of me.
