Backbiting

Is it backbiting if i inform a person of a habit or an evil of someone that could actually harm him ? For example if i tell my sister or a friend to not believe everything mr. Xyz says because he lies ,then will it be considered backbiting? If it is then how are we to warn our beloved one of treacherous or evil people ? And what if the evil person is in family ?

If it’s something to sincerely warn others, this seems permissible.

Does complaining about someone fall into backbiting? Or does it have limits? Sometimes ppl come to my mom to complain abt someone.. Usually they do it to let out their feelings. People also narrate things that has happened in their homes.. Arguments etc. The Intention is not for fun or to laugh at someone. But usually we end up learning about someone’s bad qualities

Venting is not permissible and it is backbiting.

I laugh at someone because he looks funny when he speaks.Or, someone when they speak their accent is funny. Or, when I look at video and the man is bald,I laugh. By laugh,I don’t mean laughing out loud. By laugh,I mean smiling or slightly twisting your lips only. Because I am trying my best not to laugh. Is this backbiting (if done in secret) or insult?

sheikh I was talking 2 my brother I was just telling him about one of our relative who envies us alot and even she said me on my face she doesn’t want us to b successful so I was advising my bro 2 b careful of her so is it backbiting?

If it was genuinely to warn him, this is permissible.

Sheikh, Is talking about Imams -in their absence -who make mistakes or innovations in prayer ,backbiting?! May Allah reward you with all good

This depends on the intention. If it’s to warn others, this is permissible. If not, this is clearly backbiting.

Almost all women discuss the problems of their brothers and sister or sister in laws with their hubands or may be things happening in the life of their relatives.Is this also backbiting?Although the intention isn’t to defame or speak of ill of others but just discussing the problems of the family and to find the solution.

Backbiting is to mention the faults of someone while he is not present and slandering means making a false spoken statement damaging to a person’s reputation. There was someone in our family and i saw him anf i think he was doing a sin and i told one of my family members but i only came to know now that i was not supposed to expose his sin and i heard if i pick on him it will come back to me so is there anything i can do now like for that not to come back to me should i speak well about thats person now and repent

Repent, ask Allah for forgiveness and never do that again.

i have a question regarding Ghibah. if I give an example regarding someone’s fault towards other people without mentioning the name of actual person (for example a sentence: Some people (without mentioning the name) in office does so and so bad things which need to be avoided), does it will consider as Ghibah? or it is permissible?

If the listener knows who you are referring to, this is gheebah.

You know if someone is backbiting to you and your just listening .Does that make you a backbiter aswell?and you should avoid sitting with them kind of people or what?Sheikh please give me advice.

Indeed, you must not sit with them unless you can stop them or defend your Muslim brother.

sheikh, if someone misbehaves with me or mistreats me and then I write in my diary that this type of behavior upsets people,it is not good and alike without mentioning the name of that person or the exact incident happened with me,is it considered backbiting and sin or not?

As long you don’t mention the name and the reader won’t be able to figure it out, this is permissible.
