Sheikh if I backbite someone and then praise them behind their back, does that cancel out the sin of backbiting ?

NO it doesnt. You have to seek forgiveness from Allah from the committed sin.

People often gossip about celebrities. Some of these celebrities do very bad things. I am wondering if the celebrities get the good deeds of those who backbite against them, even if the celebrities are doing immoral things.

Kafirs don’t take muslim’s good deeds. However the muslim is losing these deeds while backbiting a non muslim or talking about them for no legitimate reason as such gossiping is not appropriate for Muslims.

if a muslim backbites a muslim and the other muslim also backbite him by defending himself, who will get punished on the day jugement? Sometimes people make up lies about you and you respond by saying they are liars for example.

Both of them are sinful. One must not defend himself by backbiting others before verifying the truth or facing that individual. You can say the truth without backbiting him.

If you backbited somone but then after said somthing good about him with intention to cancel it out, is it still sin ?

No, this doesn’t cancel it. You need to repent and seek that person’s forgiveness if it wouldn’t cause any further damage or more harm.

Sheikh, is it allowed to talk about a person’s sin behind their back if he or she does that sin openly?

No, this is not permissible unless there is a legitimate reason for such an act.

Suppose, a muslim has backbitten another Muslim, in this case, if the situation is such that if that person goes to seek his forgiveness then the matter would become more worst, so in this case, if that person directly asks Allah for forgiveness, will it suffice?

When people talk politics and speak about what a country does or doesn’t do, is that considered backbiting? If it is, how does a person expiate that?

There’s a lot of backbiting and gossiping in reality shows, If i watch it and hear someone backbite/gossip, does all my good deeds go to the person that’s being backbited on?
