I’m about to have a baby inshallah. my husbands family insist to do things like put a small mushaf in the baby’s bed (next to or under the baby) and bury the belly button when it falls off. is there any evidence for these things? I said no with the last baby and they became angry.

ANSWER: This is not permissible as it is an innovation. Burying the umbilical cord after falling off is permissible but not mandatory as it can be thrown in the dustbin as well.

I here to ask you about where should we keep our hands during salah i.e on our belly or on our chest.

ANSWER: If you mean mahr then if the bride agrees without any pressure from anyone then there’s no problem in giving the mahr later. It’s a debt on the husband.

I’m doing Istakhara on the same way you told in a video. Today is 7th Day. But I’m still unable to decide what to do. Neither I’m feeling restlessness, nor feeling attracted to that thing. I’m having confusion now what to decide? Should i repeat for 1 more week?

ANSWER: This is not how istikhara works. Once you make a firm decision, it is then that you pray istikhara. Proceed with your decision and if there is any good in it for you, Allah will facilitate it for you.
