ANSWER: Fasting in order to get a duaa answered is not from the sunnah and it is close to being an innovation.

Sheikh, my husband left me and our kids for almost 3years, no words from him or his family. Which one should i do first? should i memorize some chapters of the quran or should i read the whole quran because i haven’t read the Quran, which will benefit me the most i plan on doing both but which one should i do first?

ANSWER: You need to maintain a balance between the two so that you manage to finish reading the quran once a month while memorizing a bit of it every day.

ANSWER: It’s not a plague. In Sha Allah, a muslim who dies due to Coronavirus is a martyr as it is attacking the respiratory system and suffocates a person like a person who is drowning.

Do we have to put down our index finger back at the time of first Salam or should we keep in moving position till end of last Salam?

ANSWER: In this current situation, pray 4 rakahs of dhuhr at home and you can make a congregation for this with your family.

With the current situation of the masjids being closed. Can we as a family of 4 members perform a khutbah and pray 2 rakah of the jummah prayer or do we have to pray dhuhr?

ANSWER: Pray the normal 4 rakahs of dhuhr and you can pray this in congregation at home.

We are always told to ponder over the Quran but sheikh can you guide us as to HOW we should ponder over the Quran. Bearing in mind most of us don’t know Arabic, Sheikh can you tell us what do you do when you ponder over the Quran, is there a method? Do you ask yourself certain questions?

ANSWER: Pondering is done when you know the meaning of what you’re reciting and reading its tafseer. If you don’t know Arabic, you should read the translation (Sahih international is very good in sha Allah) In english you can refer to tafseer Ass’idi, and if not possible, then tafseer Ibn Katheer.

My question is regarding applying makeup during Ramadan. Is it permissible? Especially lipsticks and lip balm. In Indian sub continent they always scold when we apply anything during fasting. Is this authentic??

ANSWER: No problem in this as long as you conceal this in front of non mahram men and while going out. This does not have any impact on your fasting.

Is it recommended to wear green clothes and turbans in Islam? I couldn’t find anything suggesting this. Why do a lot of preachers from the subcontinent wear green turbans?
