We can make dua in any language to Allah but I wanted to ask Allah to grant me wisdom and understanding of the religion and I want to say this in Arabic. Can you tell me example of one such dua I can make in Arabic?

I pray Fard prayer in masjid. Should I pray the sunnah prayers after the fard in masjid or go home and pray? Which one is the best? Please advice.

Praying it in home is the most rewardable and it is the sunnah.

What are the rulings on nawafl prayers in general? I pray my regular thuhr on jumu’ah at home as I am a female. After which at the time of live telecast of the jumu’ah at Makkah I pray again following the imam on TV facing my qiblah as nafl. This is a ritual for me every Friday. Is it permissible?

Nafl prayers are voluntary prayers. If you do not pray them you are not sinful, but missing out on great benefits. Praying behind the imam on TV is not permissible.

Is numerology allowed in Islam? Does it have same rulings as astrology? Are the two similar?

My husband was on journey and he shortened his prayer. But my brother in-law insisted on performing with jama. He said it is good to pray in jama even if we are travelers. What is your advice on this?

Jum’ah is Friday. Jama is congregational prayer. The question on praying in congregation! The prayer in congregation for the traveler if he is reading near a masjid is a must.

One ques about purity – I realised some najasa may have come on my pad. So I immediately went & wore another pad on it. I touched the old pad in the process which may have najasa on it. I wore undergarment & lower garment. Then I felt I should have washed my hands before wearing these. But I ignored it. Is it fine? Or are the clothes impure now because I had not washed hands.

If when touching the pad, it was wet and you felt the wetness upon your hands, the clothes that came in touch with your hands are now impure.

Lot of Tv channels are becoming popular such as Huda TV, Deentv.com channel. It goes as 24/7 halal entertainment. Should a muslim must avoid the website and channel Deentv even guitar nasheeds are in it?

Huda tv has no music in it. I don’t know of deen tv but I know of the Deen show and it has no music in it but it is a weekly show and not a 24 hour channel. Any show that has musical instruments in it is prohibited.

If there is a legitimate excuse for me to neglect going to the masjid (for example, it’s raining), is it a must to pray with my wife (or with someone else) in congregation (in my home)? Can’t I just pray alone?

If weather does not permit you to attend the masjid, you can pray at home and lead your family in prayer. Rain that is muddy and would cause clothes to become damp and wet is a legitimate excuse for not praying in the masjid.

My nikah is fixed on Sept 20th,2014. We have just started giving invitations. The bride’s parents have not yet started giving invitations. On August 19th (few days back) bride’s brother in-law passed away suddenly. Now our marriage date is before the completion of 40 days of his death. Can they give invitations now and can nikah take place?
