I do not believe that niqab is FARD and I always practice full Hijab without niqab. However, when I have to travel alone in a taxi or when I go for a walk alone etc…I sometimes drape my headscarf in such a way over my face, leaving only my eyes open because I fear there is fitna. Otherwise I only dress with Hijab. Is my dressing correct according to Islamic Sharia?

Salaam alaykoum. We have 19 hour fasts here . Is it permissible to fast with the nearest muslim country or must we carry on with the 19 hour fasts ? Husband finds it’s tough fitting in enough liquids let alone food and has to work in a very warm environment.jazakallah

Wa alaikum salam, As long as you have break of dawn and sunset, you must fast accordingly!

While praying in jama’, what should I do if I am reciting al-Fatihah and I am a bit slow, so the Imam goes to rukoo’ and gets up from the rukoo’ before I have a chance to make rukoo’? Have I exited from the jama’ or can I still continue with the Imam?

Wa alaikum salam, You have to hurry up with your recitation or your rakkah would become invalid.

While fasting we often rinse our mouth with water either for the purpose of wudhu or simply to clean our mouth. The question is regarding the humidity or even water that might remain even after spitting the water out and now you have gotten out of the bathroom; in case you swallow it, is your fasting still OK?

Wa alaikum salam, As long as you have spitted the water, this is sufficient. Whatever remains in the mouth is negligible.

Asalaam Mualakum Sheikh, I currently have my step father’s last name and I will soon in shaa Allah change it to my real father’slast name. I was legally adopted as a child by my step father. I am now 20 years old, do I have to be un-adopted in the courts or is the name change sufficient?

Asalaam Alaikum Sheikh, My husband cares for his mother who is very aged and an invalid. Sometimes she gets stubborn and doesn’t want to eat so he has to be a bit loud and / or firm with her, for her own good, because if she doesn’t eat well, she can’t sleep well due to hunger.
