QUESTION: Sunni authentic Hadiths state that the Prophet (PBUH) passed away in the arms of his wife, however first-hand narrations from Ali (RA) claimed that he passed away in his arms – “The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) breathed his last while resting against my chest.”. This narration, as far as I know, has been repeated in many collections. How do Sunnis view this?

QUESTION: If I do ghusul maintaining Sunnah,we don’t need to do wudu right? But if I use soap (whole body)after doing all Sunnah will it effect wudu? What is better for me to do?

ANSWER: As long as you have followed the sunnah in your ghusul, this means that you have performed wudhu in the beginning and this is sufficient If you wash your body with soap before or after it, this has no impact on your wudhu.

QUESTION: If we skip a fard part in wudu like if we forget to wash face and we remind it while washing arms or while washing foot then do we have to repeat from start?

ANSWER: You must go back to where you skipped the part and continue from there, no need to start from the beginning.

QUESTION: Every house around mine, including my uncle’s house (below us, we share the same bill), uses a device that sucks gas to cook food, which leaves us with no gas to cook. But we still pay our share of the bill. My mother says we should use the device too since we’re left without gas. My uncle refuses to remove the device. Can I also use this device?

ANSWER: You should not use such a device that would deprive others from getting their share of the gas. Stop paying for the gas and get it through cylinders.

QUESTION: My parents have traditional beliefs. They practice things like visiting dargahs and fateha, and don’t strictly follow the Hadith and Sunnah. Because of this, they turned down my proposal to marry a pious girl. I feel I need to move out to live according to the Sunnah and marry on my own, though I’ll still take care of them. Am I wrong or sinning for wanting to live separately to follow the Sunnah?

ANSWER: No problem in doing that at all while being dutiful to them and respectful.

QUESTION: We took a maid from one of our relatives whose father is missing and mother is mentally retarded. In exchange for her work we agreed to bear the marriage expenses and get her married at the right age. But now she doesn’t get married to anybody and we do not want her to work for us anymore. Can we get her married without her consent as she rejects every single person who comes with proposal?
