Recently Malaysia voted down a child marriage which is ridiculous. the sheikh said that girls as young as 9 are ready to marry. i wanted to ask what is the age of marriage for women in Islam. And how can she give her consent at such a young age?

A child must not be married against her will. There isn’t any specific age for marriage as ethnicities differ and the nature of women differ from one region to the other.

I’ve been inspired by many speakers against the Guardianship system in Saudi Arabia here in the U.K. I wanted to ask why are women being oppressed and subjugated by their guardians. I mean they can live their on their own. Many women in UK enjoy their lives and i feel sad for Saudi Arabian women that they have to stay in house and cant go out without permission!

This is totally unacceptable. She must pray each prayer on time.

Whenever we get in the car to take a 30min drive to the mall or wherever, my mom tells us to recite the following dua:”سبحان الذي سخر لنا هزا و ما كنا له مقرنين.وأنا الى ربنا لمنقلبون” Yes, I should recite this particular dua when I’m on the plane or on my way to Madinah from Jeddah but I’m not so sure about reciting it for intra-city drives.What should I do?

Will a father or husband be accountable if he doesn’t allow his daughter/wife to enjoy outside. For example if she wants to go out to park with her friends and father/husband doesn’t allow for no legitimate reason, then will they be accountable before Allah or they can abuse their power as they want and let her be in prison!

My sister has a boyfriend who she is intending to marry. However, she consistently lies to my parents about where she is when going out, she stay late out at night without my parent being aware. I have told her that it is all sin. I also heard that the boy has a past, relating to zina. Now, do I tell my parents what she is been up too and about the boys past if they want to get married.
