If there is no free mixing of genders and no other things that goes against Islam, such as music, and they are not imitating Hindu culture, then this seems permissible.

In our home country when someone dies, their family members arrange a majlis, recite Qur’an, make dua after 3 days and 40 days. I know it’s not the part of our religion but do we attend it if they call us to attend? What should be our attitude then?

Reference:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 458 Aishah narrated: “The night prayer of Allah’s Messenger was thirteen Rak’ah, five of which were his Witr, not sitting in any of them except at the end of them. I want to ask; just as if one kills themselves tomorrow, even if they weren’t to kill themselves they would’ve died tomorrow anyway, whatever the means because it was in their Qadr. Therefore there’s no point in suicide. Similarly, is that the same with rizq? So if they take out haram money, even if they didn’t go through it the haram way,they would’ve received the same anyway?
