A friend of mine posted some hadith and said that the Prophet celebrated his own birthday. It is from sahih muslim vol2, book of Sawm, Hadith no. 1162. Is this authentic hadith?

This is baseless. He was born on Monday and he was fasting that day. He never fasted 12 of rabee al awwal, neither did his companions! Those who want to celebrate it may fast every Monday if they are truthful!

is it permissible to play poker without any gambling/money granted it is played without missing prayer or turning it into a habit (ex. Playing five times in the year). I dont know if its purely based on chance, because you can get bad cards and still win and vice versa.

My friend is a Sunni Muslim and has studied alot about Islam. He says that after the death of prophet Muhammad , people got so obsessed with talking about sahih hadith that at one point Abu bakr said that now if anyone comes to me asking about hadith,I will chop his head off so that people would go back to Quran more. Is this true.

I heard on umdatul ahkaam you saying that women can’t enter masjid in menses. I live in New Jersey. I volunteer on every Sunday to teach children about Islamic teachings. In our masjid we teach the children in basement were we don’t perform salah only we give the classes so is it ok for me to go there only in basement to teach the children wheni have menses

If it is a separate place and it is not part of the masjid, this is permissible. But if is part of the masjid and that they use it to pray in it on Fridays or Eids, this is not permissible.

I am a medical student preparing for post graduation exams. So is there any relaxation in terms of praying only fard prayers or praying at home only. Like a man that comes to the Prophet (saw) and said that I will do only the bare minimum and the Prophet (saw) said that the person will be in Jannah if he spoke truth.

Your must pray in the masjid with the congregation. As for the sunnah prayers, this is up to you. The more you follow the sunnah, the more Barakah you will get in your life.

I was given a gift of a hand drawn portrait of my son. I know it is haram to draw anything that has a soul. So my question is, what should I do with this portrait? Can I keep it or should I dispose of it?

Will the following payment of money qualify as zakat? A son-in-law paying for the medical expenses of his aged father-in-law (age over 80 years). The father-in-law has some financial assets but they are not enough to pay for medical expenses
