What actions are permissible to carry out on behalf of the deceased,like Hajj,Umrah,reading Quran on their behalf,reading certain surahs/adhkar on their behalf,charity? Can people gather in groups and recite Quran/adkharand forward it on behalf of the deceased?

The most authentic opinion is that it is permissible for such a person to offer Umrah, Hajj, give charity and fast mandatory fasts on behalf of a deceased person. It is not permissible to read quran or adhkar on his behalf.

As for the ayah in surah yusuf, which says La taknutu min Rauhillah, is this kufr? As the later part says , none does so except the people who do kufr.

It is not permissible to recite Quran on behalf of the deceased.

I am reading English translation of the Qur’an, but after I am done reading a few ayahs each day, I find that I forget what I read. Is this because I am so sinful and a bad person?Is there anything I can do to improve retention of what I read from the Qur’an?

I know only the names of famous Tafseer books,Ibn Kaseer,At Tabri ,Qurtabi and Kabeer but I don’t know whether they exist originally or not?

The first three exist and they are sold in the market and they are also translated. The fourth one I am not sure I know it unless you are referring to the tafseer of Al Razi, this is also sold in bookshops

Some of it is authentic and some is not.

Some people are of the opinion your feet shouldn’t face the quran or be raised above it, is this correct?

This is best and a part of respecting the Quran. But if a person does it without the intention of humilating the Quran, this is permissible.
