Sheik,my brother did nikah without telling us to a woman who has already a child with another man.He had haram relationship with her,the parents went ahead and did nikah without my parents knowing. Is the nikka valid? Is my brother a mahram to the child who isn’t his? My parents and i don’t accept this relationship as my brother doesn’t work. His wife n child will be dependent on my dad.advise plz

ANSWER: A man does not need anyone’s permission to get married. The nikah is valid if there is nothing to nullify it! It is your father’s money and he has the right not to give his son money if he doesn’t want to.

Please enlighten me with “who has more right on a girl ones she is nikkahfied , The husband or her parents ? If under any circumstances she is to make a choice whom should she choose ? Her parents or her husband ? Allah will question her about who’s right ? The parents or the husband ?

I am a woman in polygamy the last wife of 3 wives. I recently got married and didn’t know my husband is struggling financially. I’m responsible for my upkeep 100% and do give my husband money from time to time. I have some savings and willing to forfeit them for him to pursue a new career which in sha Allah will benefit us all. However, I’m scared of what the future would be.

ANSWER: You are not obliged to spend on yourself, let alone your husband! It is his responsibility to look after you and not vice versa. With wives like you, he wouldn’t have to work as long as he has “sugar mommy”!

We were discussing with my friends and some of them said that one can randomly choose a waliy for herself even if the person is not your family and the wedding will still be valid. I need more clarification on this topic.

ANSWER: The guardian or wali is set by Islam to be a woman’s father, paternal grandfather, son, brother, paternal uncle or paternal cousin. If she has no muslim relatives, the muslim ruler, judge or authorized islamic center would act like her guardian.

I had a haram relationship before my reversion to Islam. I had cut off all the relation with the guy nd repented sincerely. In future if my husband ask me whether I had any relation in past, should I tell the truth or hide it?

ANSWER: You are not allowed to disclose your past sins to anyone! If anyone asks, act offended by such a question. Allah has forgiven and concealed all of your previous sins. Who is he to ask you about them now?

Married for 14 yrs.Husb gave nafkah only for 1st year of marriage&stop till today.Reminded him its a must to give wife nafkah but he didn’t care.He went for counselling with an ustadz but still refuses to give nafkah.I’ve been working 14 years&all my money is used to help him with kids&financial.Once in 3 months I’ll take abit from my salary to buy my necessaties.What should I do?

ANSWER: You must not spend anything. You must not give any money to your husband. It is his responsibility to take care of you and to provide for you and your children. You can take him to court if he has money and refuses to give.

If I am married to a woman who is not virgin but was regarded to be virgin before the marriage what should I do? Should I inform her family that she was not virgin or should I keep it a secret and continue with the marriage?

ANSWER: Most women lose their virginity due to playing sports or riding bicycles etc. Other girls don’t break the hymen from the first few attempts. Therefore, one must not be haste and assume things that have no basis to it. You have sisters and would have daughters in the future.

ANSWER: You need to be patient as Allah will send you someone suitable in Sha Allah. Speak to your mahram relatives, to your Muslim colleagues and to the Islamic center near you. You can also post your information without a photo on Islamic matrimonial sites. Make a lot of duaa and trust and depend on Allah.
