QUESTION: I am a housewife and financially dependent on my husband and he gives me pocket money and never asks where I spent it. is it ok if I quietly give some chunk of my pocket money (not on monthly basis) to my mother as a gift without telling the husband

ANSWER: No problem as this is your money now. This is different that the money he gives you for the house or groceries as these can’t be used without his permission

QUESTION: I have converted to Islam but my wife is still a christian, she told me that if i convert she can no longer be with me. I tried to explain to her that i converted but once i saw her reaction i made it seem as if i was not serious about it because i want to protect my marriage for my kids. ANSWER: Such an Imam is not part of the marriage contract. It is only for the purpose of registering it with the authorities.

QUESTION: Is it permissible to lie if telling that truth will lead me to huge sins? Example:If a girl maintains distance from non-mahram, but secretly has feelings for a boy without communicating. If he asks to her by a friend, if she has feelings for him or not, can she lie that she doesn’t have feelings in order to prevent fitna?

ANSWER: She should not answer that friend and pretend to be offended and tell her that chaste women are not asked such questions and that if he was interested for real, he would have proposed to her father.

ANSWER: How does she know what is written for her? She has no other choice but to be patient and hope for the best and if this doesn’t happen, she will be compensated handsomely on the day of judgment.

QUESTION: What should be the general behaviour of a husband towards his relatives&siblings who openly hate his wife, insult her and want him to divorce her? ANSWER: No, this is not permissible at all! Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam said a person who takes back his gift is like a dog who vomits and then eats its own vomit! Only the mahr must be returned when she takes khula.
