QUESTION: Sheikh, i am new muslim (from almost 2 years) and my parents are anti-islam hindu, my grandmother is living with us and see is heavy backbiter and a lot and try to tell her do not do this and she doesn’t care. Sometimes she has lots of health issues and i tell her where is your god? Why doesn’t you god heal you. Is this sinful? And my mother scolds me for talking to her about god topic.

ANSWER: You shouldn’t insult their gods as this would cause them to insult Allah azza wa jal. What will you do if you fall sick and she says the same to you?? Call her to Islam through good manners, wisdom, knowledge, and diplomacy.

QUESTION: I’ve heard that duʿā’ is more beneficial when one understands its meaning. In that case, how should someone who does not understand Arabic approach daily adhkār—like morning and evening remembrances, adhkār after salah, and other regular supplications? ANSWER: It’s not limited to food. Food is just emphasized in hadith. The real condition is that your overall income and spending are halal, which affects the acceptance of dua.

ANSWER: Chili and lemon are things people eat and must be respected and not stepped on as any other food thrown on the ground. Avoid stepping on it not because it would harm us rather because it is an edible thing.
