It is completely forbidden in Islam to hit anyone on the face.

I am a student living in UK who loves to travel. I always wanted to go for a trip to Europe and therefore, I booked one this year and am really looking forward to it. I have booked my 10 day tour to 5-6 countries in July, 2013. I realized a few weeks later after I had booked that the period falls in the holy month of Ramadan. That is my dilemma. I wrote to the tour operator asking them if I can change the date and they told me that it will cost me around 120 pounds minimum additional to change the date. Since, I am a student and tight on budget I did not want to lose that 120 pounds. I have been told that Maghrib would be post 10pm in those days and we will have these extremely long fasting days. Therefore, I am having 2nd thoughts about fasting for that long while travelling as it will be extremely difficult since we will be walking and travelling on buses for those full 10 days continuously (except during the night). Cutting it short, is it possible that I avail the concession of not fasting while I travel? What are the pros and cons for me in this? Please note that my course is only a 1 year one which will finish at the end of this year and I will return to Saudi Arabia where I live iA. Also please note that the purpose of my trip is purely for leisure.

It is not permissible for you to go on such a road trip. Cancel it and refund your money and consider the loss for the sake of Allah.

I am from India and I study in USA for my masters.I came to USA since the course that I am doing is not offered in India but only in USA.Alhamdulillah I am a practicing muslim and I have a beard tooRecently I got a scholarship and I dont want to pay the fees anymore.Alhamdu lillah I come from a decently wealthy family.I wanted to buy a Car worth 9000 dollars.My father had sent 9000 dollars to me recently to buy any car.I love sports cars.Is it permissible to buy it? I am not being able to make a decision.I doubt that it is considered as a show off or highly materialistic to buy a sports car?

This is permissible providing that it wouldn’t drag you down or make you show off with it.

I’ve always wondered exactly what kind of gambling islam prohibits. No doubt that gambling with money is forbidden but what about taking chances with things that do not involve money? For example, if I go into an exam and I am risking not studying a certain topic because I do not think it will come up,is this permissible? or playing cards but NOT for money?

This is not gambling. This is risking and foolishness.

One of my cousin whom I told that if there is a pictures in ur house angels will not come so take off those pictures she said that I believe in this Hadees but what about tv it’s the same also so I tried a lot to convince her that tv has no link with these Hadees but can you please tell me how I convince her she’s still saying that tv also includes in that category & she also said this hadeeth is about making sculptures and use as decoration piece tv is haram I know but it depends how we utilize right if we utilize in good way watching huda tv or any islamic but how I convince her that tv and frame picture in your house both are different?

This hadeeth is in reference to sculptures and drawings. Videos and television programs that are permissible are not included in this hadeeth.

It is not permissible to use forbidden things while cooking as this would be considered as cooperating on evil and sin. And Allah knows best.

If the nasheed has no musical instruments and the meaning of the words are fine, this is permissible to listen to but not to overdo it as it would affect the heart.

I have on many occasions tried to change myself to be a better Muslim but reverted back to my bad ways, I sometimes miss prayers, and I don’t feel bad about it because I find them a burden. I feel ashamed about certain things in the religion like keeping a long beard, I also find some matters in the religion difficult to come to terms with, consequence of growing in a non Muslim country, I get a lot of doubts and this really scares me because i fear i will die in a state of kufr and I don’t feel remorse for my sins. However on this occasion I have been steadfast for a longer period, the one thing I’m doing different is reading the Quran daily and I remember Allah frequently. There is something missing but not quite sure what it is, there is more I could add but believe you will get the picture. What should I do?
