I have a friend whose mother and him are upon the sunnah and correct aqeedah,but his father visit shrines(mazar)and they have a shrine adjacent to their house in village.During festivals in these shrines my friend tries to avoid but his mother attends to be safe from peoples ill speech.What is the ruling on attending these festivals without participating in the shirk and bidah involved with them?

ANSWER: It is absolutely prohibited to participate in these shirk practices and going to these shirk places. She must adhere to the Sunnah way of life and not give in to such practices just to avoid confrontation.

Is it preferable or highly recommended for women to cover their head while doing dua for iftar? Or is it an innovation??

Do I still have to pray Tahiyyatul Masjid even if I’m attending the masjid for a class?

ANSWER: Yes, you must pray 2 rakahs before sitting down if the class is in the Masjid.

Here in India we don’t have masjids for women.Can I lead my female cousins etc for taraweeh (reading from the mushaf) in our house, as my mother and I live alone?I have male cousins and uncles, but I don’t think they’d be willing to lead us all, and they may go for taraweeh themselves.

ANSWER: No problem in you leading by looking in the mushaf providing there are no male non mahram around. You must stand in the same row and not in front like a male imam.

ANSWER: It is a major sin and Allah has stored the punishment of it in hell without disclosing it to us.

Is it permissible to marry your daughter to a good boy who is working in IT department of a credit card company, if everything is ok?

ANSWER: No, this is not permissible as his job is haram because of it being in the credit card company.

When I do something from other madhab, like reciting fatiha(quietely) being a muqtadiy, or raising hands before and after ruku they are sometimes very critical saying “in Hanafi madhab it is not permissable. If you’re from this madhab you should do everything according to it, and not pick and choose. Should I not do them even if hadiths are authentic, not to cause fitna?

ANSWER: It is not necessary to stick to a particular madhab, especially when we have an established Sunnah for it. Follow the Sunnah and ignore others who are ignorant and don’t follow the sunnah.

Can zakat be paid irrespective of Muslims or Non-Muslims to an organisation or orphanage dealing with mentally and physically disable children and people.

ANSWER: This is not permissible. Zakat must be given in the form of cash to the poor and needy Muslims to do with as they please.

I have a barelvi uncle and he tells me that I cant pray witr according to the sunnah. And he says that the other 3 madhahb are wrong . What should I advice him?

ANSWER: Do not waste your time on explaining about the sunnah way of praying witr with him because if he’s a barelvi then you must focus on his aqeedah which is most important. Give him dawah about Tawheed and prohibition of shirk and asking from the dead.
