It is advisable to be diplomatic and kind to people so that they would love Islam without lying about the truth and without allowing falsehood to flourish.

You should do that with Muslims who believe in Allah and His Messenger. Non Muslims, you should start with them by giving them Dawah as they don’t believe in the Quran nor the Sunnah.

You should try with wisdom and diplomacy.

You must stop speaking to him and stop taking him as a friend. Only keep minimum relationships so that he wouldn’t take a bad idea about Muslims but you must not hangout with him or take his as a friend.
