Most of the plates in the market are not made of gold except those that are expensive. Therefore, if these utensils are expensive, you should take them to a goldsmith or a jewelry shop and they can advise you. If they say that there is gold or silver in it, you shouldn’t use them. You can either put them as decoration or you can sell the gold and silver in them and not the plates. This is so that people would not use it to eat in.

And Allah knows best

My question is about cups with gold and silver color decoration and patterns, I don’t know if it is real gold/silver or just color. Is it permissible to keep them? How about glasses which are gold plated?Which is the best way to get rid of them? When my parents purchased them they didn’t know about the interdiction of eating out of gold made plates, are they sinful?
